Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipstick Review and Swatches

Hello, everybody! It's been more than 2 months since I last posted a blog entry here and I missed writing so much! I've been busy with makeup gigs and focused more in creating videos for my YouTube channel. Also, life happened and I needed to take a short hiatus. Anyway, I'm so glad to be back! And as a comeback post, I decided to share a review on a product from a local brand that is famous in the whole country --- Ever Bilena!

If you are a fan of Ever Bilena or if you are updated to their products, then you are probably familiar with their Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks. At dahil nauuso na ang liquid lipsticks, they decided to create the liquid lipstick version of those well-known matte lipsticks! Last August 2017, they launched their new products and one of those is their Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipsticks.

Product name: Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipstick
Price: Php195
Available at: Ever Bilena kiosks/counters nationwide

If you love watching video reviews more than reading, let me share with your my review and swatches video on the Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipstick. If you are more of a reader then please, continue reading. :)

Although Ever Bilena finally created the liquid lipstick version of their matte lipsticks, they did not make all the shades. There are only 12 shades for the Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipstick and according to the company, these are the best-seller shades of their matte lipsticks. I remember way back when the Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks were still so popular, almost everyone's favorite shade is Mauvey, including me! I love Mauvey and the shade Love That Red. I also like the shade Skin but sadly, they didn't have a liquid lipstick version of that.

PACKAGING

Before they released these lippies, Ever Bilena offered liquid lipsticks which are stored in a much smaller tube. The Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipsticks are taller and look more sleek and pro. It comes with a typical doe-foot applicator. However, I am not a fan of this particular doe-foot applicator because it is a little stiff. Probably because the sponge that absorbs the product is kind of thin which actually affects the application of the product.

SWATCHES AND TEXTURE
When I applied these liquid lipsticks on the back of my hand, it was fine. With one swipe, you already get a perfect opacity so you can already see the actual color. However, since the doe-foot applicator is rigid, application may become streaky for some shades if you swipe it back and forth. It doesn't happen though to all the shades.

Still wet

It's different though when you apply it on your lips. I have to say that the application on the lips is more uneven. And as what I've said, since the foam on the applicator is a bit thin, it only absorbs a little amount of the product on each dip in the tube so it took me quite a lot of swipes before I got an even opacity on my lips.

As for the texture, it feels really matte once it dries but what I love about it is that it doesn't feel heavy on the lips and it is not that drying (for me) despite of its matte finish,

The shades don't have the same evenness. Some are more streaky than the other ones. The lighter shades and the darker shades have the most uneven application, particularly Mauvey, Pink Flame, Dusk, Vamp Red, Fierce Red, and Rouge Berry. When you smack your lips, the pigment on the lower lip transfers on the upper lip, leaving you with an uneven lip color.

STAYING POWER
The Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipstick does not really have a strong staying power. It fades after drinking and eating. Even just talking for a number of minutes, it will already slightly fade on the middle pout. But that's just me. You also have to put in mind that we all have different lip shapes so it might have an effect on that.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I am a little frustrated with this product because I really love the shade selection and how it feels on my lips but sadly, almost all of the shades are streaky and I just don't like the applicator. The longevity does not bother me that much because I don't mind reapplying as long as the shade looks amazing. It's the application that concerns me more. But for the price of Php195, I'd say it's not really that bad.
