Product Review: Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara

Hi everyone! How's it going? Me? I've been very busy these past few days because we're moving out from our house in Tagaytay so we started packing all of our stuff. We don't have any helpers, it's just me, my sister, my Mom and my brother! And I'm telling ya, my Mom likes keeping A LOT of things, and I mean a lot! Things that she doesn't even use and just uses for decorations and stuff. Phew! So, yeah, these past days I was really tired and I was kind of "idle" in the social media world because the internet connection in our house in Tagaytay is poor. But here I am now and I am back with a new product review. In fact, I just got back here in Manila --- LITERALLY. Yeah, I'm just that excited to blog! ;)

Okay, I've had this product for almost two months now and some of my viewers requested for me to review this local mascara. Actually, some of my fellow Pinay beauty bloggers had already reviewed this product and I was really intrigued because almost all of them, if not all of them, liked this! Now, I know why.

Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara --- hmm, I'm sure some of you have already heard of this mascara before or even seen this in malls before. I learned about this local product from Andee of ohthisislove in YouTube. She's also a YouTube beauty guru and a year ago, she reviewed this mascara from Fashion 21. From her video review, I thought that this mascara is pretty awesome but I don't know why it took me A YEAR before trying out this product. Maybe it's because I have quite a lot of mascaras that time. To be honest, the reason why I bought this is because I'm planning to do another one-brand makeup tutorial featuring Fashion 21 cosmetics and Fanny Serrano. Also, I think it's time for me to finally try out this intriguing mascara.

Okay ang daldal ko! Let's begin:

Before formally reviewing the product, I just want to say first that one of the things that I love about this mascara in general is that the packaging is red. Hahaha! It's my favorite color! Hee!

Product Name: Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara
Price: P225.00
Spotted: SM North Edsa Department Store

Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara is probably one of the best mascaras I've ever tried. It lives up to its claim and it's obviously affordable. Fashion 21 claims that this mascara doubles the length of your eyelashes in an instant. The first time that I opened the product, I was not really excited to use it because the consistency of the product itself is a little thin unlike other thick mascaras that are really volumizing and lengthening. Then I applied it on my lashes and learned that this mascara takes a few minutes before totally drying up. However, I fell in love with it because it really lengthened my thin and sparse eyelashes and it does a great job in separating my eyelashes. It doesn't clump at all. And once it dries up, it stays in place. It doesn't smudge and it doesn't run even when I get teary eyed (for some reasons). Maybe the culprit of separating my eyelashes decently is because of its brush/wand.

I absolutely love the brush because like what I've said, it does a great job in separating my eyelashes so it doesn't clump and stick together like bundles of hair. Also, the wand is quite narrow so it's not that difficult to reach the hard-to-reach area of my eyelashes.

Before I show you my photos with the mascara on, I just want to tell you that I have really thin eyelashes and since I have hooded lids, it's like I don't even have eyelashes at all --- unless I close my eyes! Thank goodness for mascaras, they save my eyelashes all the time! Haha!

See the huge difference on my eyes? Okay, also on my eyebrows! Hehe! I'm born with thin hair talaga e ---  the texture of my hair or my crowning glory is thin, I have really sparse and thin brows and lashes, and yes, I don't have much hair on my armpit unlike other girls. Blessed me! Haha! :)

Continuing on, as you can see in the photo, my lashes were really lengthened. Here's a closer look:

Picture No. 1: I applied the Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara on my right eyelashes only to compare it side-by-side with my other eyes. You can clearly see the difference.

Picture No. 2: Applied Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara on both lashes, also on my bottom lashes.

As you can see in the photos, it did lengthen my eyelashes but it's not really volumizing nor thickening. Yes, my eyelashes looked thicker with the mascara on but it still didn't look full. Then again, the product says it will lengthen your eyelashes 2x and not volumize it 2x so, it's all good! ;-)

I also road tested the product to see if it's really waterproof and smudge-proof. For the record, I have really oily lids and my mascara and eyeliner usually transfers after an hour or two IF the products that I use are not that good. For the Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara, here's the result:

Picture No. 1: Took this photo at around 3PM. We're on our way to the Celebrity Bazaar. I used the Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara on my eyelashes.

Picture No. 2: Took this photo when we got home from SM Megamall. This was already around 9PM. As you can see, no traces of mascara on my under eyes. It also didn't transfer on my lids! Again, I have really oily lids (you can see that my nose and forehead is already oily) and I sweat quite heavily the day I did this test because it was really hot inside the mall and the bazaar because it's too crowded. Gotta loooooove this mascara! :)

There are just times when I touch my lashes, little streaks of mascara transfers on my fingers but if you don't touch it, it will not go anywhere. Katekatera lang talaga ako at pakelamera sa pilik-mata ko! Hehe!

FINAL WORDS:
You know what? It is actually comparable to the previous mascaras I've tried. Especially the ones from Maybelline, which is my favorite when it comes to mascaras. In fact, Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara doesn't even thicken nor volumizes eyelashes, it just lengthens them BUT again, it claims to just lengthen your eyelashes so I think it's an awesome product. Also, I think what separates it from the other mascaras, especially local mascaras, is that it's very affordable yet it delivers and the quality is GREAT. It really lengthens and separates my eyelashes well and stays put the whole day.

I recommend this to everyone because it's affordable (especially to those who are "practical" *wink* like me) and available locally so we have an easy access to this product. BUT I highly recommend this to those who have thick/full sets of eyelashes because the consistency is thin. Thin mascaras are best for people with fuller lashes and mascaras with thick consistency will suit better those who have thin and sparse eyelashes like me! :)

If you've tried this product already, let me know what are your thoughts about it! :)

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! :)

  2. How long will it take to dry on a normal day without using a fan?
