5 EASY AND INEXPENSIVE SKIN CARE TIPS!

Hi everyone!

Here are 5 basic easy skin care tips that I wanted to share with all of you. We all know that there are a loooooooooot of skin care tips and different alternatives that we can use/do to take good care of our skin. Here are the 5 easiest and most important tips that you should do and follow for a healthier and happier skin! :))

1. DRINK LOTS OF WATER!

Water flushes out the toxins out of our body and carries in nutrients. Our system is made up of about 60 % water and everyday, in everything we do, we lose water from our body. So, it's really important to drink water to avoid dehydration and to help keep our body systems healthy. Our skin also gets dehydrated so, to   have a healthier and more flawless complexion, never let a day go by without drinking water!

We all know the most popular rule when it comes to drinking water --- DRINK 8 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY! Well, I'm sure most of you (including me) are guilty of not really following this rule. Actually, we should even drink more than 8 glasses of water a day. Anyway, if you, for some reason, usually forgets to take in 8 glasses of water per day, just follow this :

Drink at least 1 glass of water when you wake up in the morning, another glass before every meal, another glass after every meal, and another glass before going to bed.

2. SLEEP!

Don't you notice it that whenever you wake up from a short time of sleeping, your face looks sooooo tired and your skin looks dull and dry? Well, that's because of lack of sleep but it's no doubt that most people are deprived of a good ol' sleep because of their jobs, school, and some other stuff. An average adult needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep. If you can't sleep for that long and just don't have the time for a good long sleep, then I suggest take your power nap during your vacant time! Lack of sleep will affect your brain and your neurons might not function properly!

Just be sure not to oversleep like Sleeping Beauty because I'm sure you will miss out on a lot of things! LOL

3. PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN!

Yep, that is me! Hahaha!

I know how a lot of women (and even men) go gaga during Summer, getting addicted to the beach, tanning, skinny dipping and God-knows-what else (OMG!) but you should all limit your time under the sun. It absolutely brings harm on your skin and body and it is also the main reason for premature aging!

So, if you can't control yourself and you just love to go beach-hopping and if you just simply love being under the sun, at least use a sunblock with no less than SPF 15. Below SPF 15 will just give you low protection from the sun while 15 gives medium protection. Of course, the higher the SPF, the greater the sun protection. Refer to the chart below:

I, personally, am not a Sun and Summer/beach lover because I just can't stand the heat! It's Summer right now here in the Philippines and I HATE IT! Yesterday (04252012), the temperature in Manila went up to 36.2 degrees Celsius which is the highest temperature reading so far this year! It's really annoying and I was literally irritated by everything yesterday because of the weather. The weather definitely affects my mood! I went to New Era University yesterday to get the result of my admission test and it was really hot but of course, I did not neglect my SPF. ;-)

4. EAT HEALTHY FOODS!

Remember the saying, "You are what you eat."? Well, that's actually true! What you take inside your body actually shows on your outside appearance and even in your personality. When you eat right, you will feel right. When you feel right, you will feel good. When you feel good, you will look good! No! You will look AWESOME! Start eating healthier foods. Remember the Go, Grow, and Glow foods that we all learned during grade school? You might want to consider it! ;-)

5. PAMPER YOUR SKIN!

Give your skin the treatment that it deserves! Always keep in mind the 3 basic steps: 1) Cleanse 2) Tone and 3) Moisturize! There are thousands of beauty/skin care regimen and products around the world that you can use to treat your skin but be sure to consider your skin type to know what is the best way and what are the products that best suit your skin.

Keep in mind that you don't actually need super expensive and famous beauty products. Expensive doesn't mean they're any better. In fact, some of them are actually not good and doesn't match everyone's skin. Some might just result to irritation and allergies so, like what I've said, consider your skin type.
If you don't want to spend money on beauty products that you can buy at different beauty stores and drugstores, there's always your kitchen! Trust me, you'll find different products from your kitchen that are very useful and good for your skin like lemons, eggs, carrots, honey, sugar, milk, etc.

Also, don't forget to give your skin the break that it deserves! Break from what? From makeup application, you silly! :) I am a makeup lover, a makeup junkie, a beauty blogger, and a makeup artist but that doesn't mean that I wear makeup every single day! Let your skin breathe every once in a while. It will make a big difference! :)

That's it! I hope you find these tips helpful! :) Have a healthy and happy skin!

Stay awesome and accomplish your missions! :)

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes?

A few days ago, my former co-teacher who is also a makeup lover asked me for an advice on cleaning makeup brushes so I thought of filming a demonstration of how I clean my makeup brushes.

I just want to say that we all have different ways on cleaning and drying our makeup brushes so don't kill me or harass me if it's anything less like how you do it or how Michelle Phan does it or how Kandee Johnson does it or how Say Artillero does it. But of course, suggestion and comments will be highly appreciated. :)

Here's the video, by the way. Watch me as I clean my makeup brushes:

What I use to clean my brushes is a hand soap from Bench. It's called /Bench Alcogel Liquid Hand Soap in Mint. I got it for about PhP 189.00 at Savemore. I love using it because it's mild, it's anti-bacterial and it's mint! I love minty scents!!! I mix it with water so that it will not be too concentrated. For foundation brushes, powder brushes, and for other brushes used on cream and liquid cosmetics like lip brushes, I use a makeup remover to pre-wash my brushes because they are usually too difficult to wash. The makeup remover will help remove the excess makeup from the brushes.

I also like pre-rinsing my brushes. What do I mean by pre-rinsing? Well, once I have washed a brush with my soap mixture, I run it through the water or soak it before I move on to the next brushes. I don't want the soap to sit on the bristles for too long because that might cause damages on the brush hair. Then after washing them and pre-rinsing them, I rinse them again to make sure that they are all soap-free. Once bubbles are not forming anymore when you stroke the brushes back and forth on your palms, that means that they're good to go! :)

So, how do I dry them? As what you have seen on the video (if you watched it), I lay out a towel on a table or any flat surface and use anything to help elevate my brushes. Place the brushes in an inverted position so that the excess water will flow out from the bristles and not through the ferrules. The towel will absorb the excess water flowing from the bristles and it will help dry the brushes quickly. Refer to the photo below.

You might think that the bristles will bend in that position but what I do is, I check on them every once in a while and change their positions. And besides, you can restore their original forms if ever they get deformed. That's it! Just leave the brushes overnight to have them completely dried. :)

So, how do you clean your own makeup brushes?

Nails of the Week: Purple Sprinkles

Hi-ho everyone!

I just wanted to share my nails of the week and it's insane because my nails look so awesome when I only used two very cheap and affordable nail polishes. I call this the Purple Sprinkles because of the purple glitter nail polish I used. :)

What I used:

1. San San Nail Polish in Red Gleam
2. Jocarste No.8100
3. Nail Polish Remover (for cleaning the edges)
4. Cotton Buds/Cotton

Get the nail look:

1. Apply 1 layer of the San San Nail Polish in Red Gleam. Let it dry.

2. Apply 1 layer of Jocarste no. 8100. Let it dry then apply another coat. It depends on you how many coats of the glitter polish you want to have. If you want to make it look really opaque you can apply 3 coats. I applied two coats because I want the glitters to really show up but I did not apply some more because I still want the Red Gleam to peek through.

3. Clean any boo-boos you made using the nail polish remover and cotton buds.

I did not apply a top coat anymore because the more layer you apply, the thicker it gets. The thicker it gets, the longer it takes to dry. And besides, the glitter nail polish is basically a clear nail polish mixed with glitters. :)

How do you like my nails?

PRODUCT REVIEW: Kojie San Cleanser + Toner Dual Action

Hi everyone!

So, I have been using this Kojie San Cleanser+Toner Dual Action for more than two months now and I think that's already an appropriate amount of time to share my thoughts on this toner.

PRODUCT NAME:  Kojie San Cleanser+Toner Dual Action
PRICE:  P79.00
SPOTTED:  Robinson's Supermarket

What the product claims:

Kojie San Cleanser + Toner is a light solution derived from a blend of natural ingredients that cleanses, moisturizes and revives tired skin. This 2 in 1 formula helps get rid of skin's excess oil, prevents wrinkles, reduces blemishes and helps repair damaged skin. Its potent formulation leaves skin with a soft and smooth feel.

MY THOUGHTS:

Kojie San Cleanser + Toner dual action is like the Eskinol Facial Cleanser pimple fighting because they are both a 2 in 1 formula. A cleanser and a toner in 1. The difference is that, Eskinol Facial Cleanser is stronger than Kojie San Cleanser + Toner.

Kojie San Cleanser + Toner dual action is very light on the skin. It's as if you have applied water on your skin. There's no tingling effect nor a tightening effect on the skin. You can feel though that your skin feels moisturized and refreshed after using it. Yes, it's true what Kojie San claims, it moisturizes your skin (but I still apply my moisturizer just to be safe ^_^). I don't know if it's just me but I feel a cooling sensation everytime I use this cleanser+toner.

Pros
- I love that it's 2 in 1. It cleanses and it tones your skin.
- Light on the skin
- Moisturizing
- Refreshing
- Doesn't break me out
- Has a cooling sensation (it's a plus factor for me!)

Cons
- The scent might be a problem for some
(though it smells nice)
- It's affordable but not a fan of its price
(It's P79.00 for 100ml. Eskinol Facial Cleanser Pimple Fighting costs P86.00 for 225ml and it works better than Kojie San.)

Overall, I think Kojie San Cleanser + Toner Dual Action is great. I use it as my daytime toner because like what I have said before, I don't like using toners with strong formulation because I think that it's not good when you apply it on your skin then be exposed to the Sun.

So, that's it. If you want to try out the Kojie San Cleanser + Toner, you can get them at Watsons and any Supermarkets. Will I recommend? Sure! :)
