There are thousands of whitening soaps in the market but only a few of those that I have tried (and I've tried a ton) actually lived up to their claims.  If you're going to look at my blog archives, you'll see that my last post was dated January 2020. Yes, it's been over a year since I last posted an entry here in my blog. I have neglected it over and over again because I focused more on vlogging and my job as a makeup artist.

Recently, I felt somewhat stuck again and whenever I feel that, I usually go through my past posts both here in my blog and in my YouTube channel. I get motivation from that and makes me want to work hard as much or even work harder than I used to do. Now, I decided to go back to my roots and go back to blogging. Of course, I will continue creating contents in my YouTube channel and accept makeup gigs but I want to blog again since everything started in this platform anyway.☺

Enough with the somehow emotional intro, I thought I'd share with you something about skin care. As a beauty blogger/vlogger, you know we always try out various products, right? In this post, let me share with you the facial cleansers that I have recently emptied.

BRTC Introduces 'Skip-Care'

BRTC is now in the Philippines! The famous Korean derma-cosmetics brand, Bio Remedies Therapeutic Cosmetics (BRTC) was officially launched in the country a couple of weeks ago. The brand is not actually new to some local consumers as BRTC is already well-known here and a lot of skin care enthusiasts, especially K-beauty lovers, have tried some of the brand's products. Well, it just became more interesting because BRTC carefully curated its initial line-up with products that are made for Filipino skin.

What you first need to know about BRTC is that all of their products contain Blue Phyto Complex™ which is a patented vegetable ingredient from lavender, chamomile, and other blue plants known for their soothing and healing power. REVIEW: VNM Naturals Toners | Rosewater + Aloe Soothing Toner and Cucumber + Guava Leaf Skin Clearing Toner

Ever since I consulted a dermatologist years back about using toners, it made me use them less. She said that if your skin doesn't necessarily need a toner and if you don't see much of a difference when you use it or not, it's okay to skip it. Well, not totally ditch it but if you use a toner everyday day and night, you can use it every other day or if you want to use it everyday, do it only once in a day.

Toners are still important because it balances your skin's PH level but since that dermatologist told me I don't really need it that much, I decided to just use toners once a day. Particularly, every night only. I also realized after talking to the dermatologist that not all the toners that I've used really made a difference on my skin. Some did but some? Well, you can say that it was just another added step to my previous skin care routines. I can count with my fingers just how many toners I've tried that actually worked on me and when I say "worked", I meant I really saw a good effect that it did on my  skin.

Product Review: L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Masks (Anti-Pores and Detoxify)

Face mask is now a very important part of one's skin care regimen. It's not something you use everyday in your skin care routine but it's something that I look forward to every week. I just love how it makes my skin feel cleaner, fresher, and more revitalized.

There are many types of face masks but one of my favorites is a clay mask because I just feel that it really helps in cleaning the pores. It is a must since our skin faces pollution every single day. Thank goodness for clay masks, it can get rid of excess sebum and unclog pores.

#OneDayOneMask Challenge with Banila Co. - ACCOMPLISHED!

A couple of months ago, I did the #OneDayOneMask challenge in collaboration with Banila Co. where I used a sheet mask everyday for 5 consecutive days. Nowadays, using sheet masks is a huge trend in Korea and is gaining popularity all around the world. Using a sheet mask once is just not enough so, the Koreans came up with the one-day-one-mask trend.

Koreans are known to have flawless, smooth skin and it's not just because they use the right makeup products. They are very particular when it comes to skin care and are meticulous with the products they use. Taking care of the skin is absolutely important as this is one major key in achieving a perfect makeup look. Since I'm all about taking care of the skin and since I definitely agree that Koreans have great skin, I accepted their one-day-one-mask challenge!

I like non-abrasive exfoliants because they are gentler on the skin and do the job well. I have tried a few gel exfoliants before and the best I have tried is the one from Glory of New York. Unfortunately, it's pricey for me and it's available from distributors only so you don't have an easy access with their products. That's sad because their products are really great! Opening of V&M Naturals HQ!

You can never go wrong with using all natural products, that's what I love about them. They are Earth-friendly, very gentle and avoid irritation since they don't contain harsh chemicals, and they don't have any strange side effects. I've been seeing and hearing a lot about V&M Naturals from my good friend and fellow beauty blogger/vlogger, Shebby. Her testimonials about their products are all positive and the products look absolutely promising. However, I didn't really get the chance before to try them even though I wanted to because first, I still have tons of skin care products in my room waiting to be tested and reviewed, and second, I was saving my extra money for other stuff, especially for school. According to Kantar WorldPanel, a company that studies the buying behaviour of the local consumers, they have concluded, 72% of Filipino women spend a lot on beauty products.

I admit that I'm one of those 72% Pinays. I've always been fond of beauty-related stuff and that's one of the main reasons why I am in the beauty industry now. I remember when I used to search for articles regarding the latest trends about skin care, makeup, health, and other things related to beauty. I'm sure a lot of Filipino women do this, too. We even have beauty forums where the members share information, their knowledge about beauty, even videos and articles.

Filipina women always look for mediums where they can find information on the latest beauty, wellness, and health and slimming trends available. Healthy Skin Magazine has answered this with conviction.

I remember when I was just starting to explore the makeup and skin care world, Céleteque was one of the first skin care brands that I have tried. I learned about it through my sister. Product Rave-iew: Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser

Recently, Burt's Bees has launched their Daisy White line that features 5 skin care products. I've already tried three of them but my favorite would have to be the facial cleanser.

This cream cleanser is clinically proven to help improve the appearance of surface dullness by gently exfoliating skin while cleansing away dirt, oil, and makeup without over-drying. The result is skin that looks brighter and luminous.

How to use:

When I first tried the Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser, I thought that it won't thoroughly clean my skin since it doesn't really lather. It's a very mild cream, almost like Cetaphil. However, as I keep on massaging it on my face, I noticed that it was slowly melting off the makeup from my skin, even the waterproof makeup that I used. It was love at first use! It saves you time, product use, and money since you already get a 2-in-1 product --- a facial cleanser and a makeup remover in one tube.

A pea-size amount of the product is enough to clean my face but if you have fuller coverage of makeup, you might be needing more product.

Here's me with my makeup that was on my face for about 10 hours already!

After rinsing, voila! Squeaky clean face! Another great thing is that it will also leave you with supple and smooth skin.

From the test that I took above, I've had my makeup on for around 10 hours already so my face makeup had already faded out, making it easier to remove everything. So, I decided to do another test wherein I had a heavier makeup and I've only had it for around 3 hours.

Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser was able to remove completely my face makeup but I did wash it twice because I had a very heavy and full makeup on. It was able to completely clean my face, even my super matte and waterproof lip product and my waterproof mascara. However, you can still see traces of eyeliner on my water line. It is stated in the directions to avoid eye area. Since I wanted to see if it can also remove eye makeup, I also washed the area around my eyes to remove everything including my mascara but I was massaging it with a very light hand to protect my delicate eyes. I was really scared that it might get into my eyes so I didn't bother removing my eyeliner. I just used a separate eye makeup remover to clean that after taking the photo. Hehe!

Overall, Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser is awesome! It can really remove dirt and makeup and will leave you with soft and smooth skin. The best thing is that it is 99% natural so it is very safe to use and healthy for your skin. So, I highly recommend this to everyone especially to people with sensitive skin.

My Summer Essentials (2014)

While others love being under the Sun at the beach, I chose to stay indoors. I know it may look like I'm a major buzz kill but we all know that Summer here in the Philippines is insanely hot and I can't stand it at times. But with all my makeup gigs and other meetings, I can't just stay under a roof. I also need to go outside and of course, I also want to have fun and celebrate before classes start in June.

With the harmful Sun and the very hot and humid weather we have, I need my own weapons to protect my skin. Here are the skin care and makeup products that I've been using a lot this Summer 2014.

Skin Care Essentials

1. Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Toner - This 99% natural toner helps remove traces of dirt and oil from your skin leaving you with a soft skin. Very mild on the skin as well and doesn't contain harmful chemicals that can react badly when exposed to the Sun. Available at all Beauty Bar stores.

3. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock  SPF 50 - Well, I don't really use this all the time but this comes in handy when you go to the beach or if you're under the Sun a lot. It has SPF 50 and the higher the SPF, the thicker and the heavier the consistency. This one, although it has high SPF, it doesn't have the greasy and sticky texture unlike other sunblocks. Definitely a must-have. Available at all Watsons nationwide.

4. Royale Beauty L-Gluta Power Lightening Lotion - One of the best lotions ever! It contains UVA/UVB protection to prevent Sun damage. Consistency is a little thick and might take a few seconds and rubs before your skin can completely absorb it but it's not greasy or slippery. In addition to that, it also has an instant whitening effect and can whiten the skin with continuous use. Available at Queen B.

5. L'Opulent Femme Anti-Perspirant Deodorant - When it's hot, we sweat a lot! Haha! And we girls don't want sweaty armpits, of course! You might want to try this L'Opulent Femme Anti-Perspirant Deodorant. This is also under Royale. It doesn't make my underarms sweat! Dry feeling all day, I swear. Also available at Queen B.

1. Ellana Minerals Loose Mineral Powder Foundation - During Summertime, you may want to avoid wearing a lot of makeup. Given the very hot weather, we tend to sweat a lot and if we apply layers and layers of makeup on our face, it might just cake plus it will give you a very irritating feeling. Very uncomfortable! 3. ELF Eyebrow Treat and Tame - Summer is a lazy season for me so I usually just use an eyebrow mascara to fill in my brows so it would be easier and more convenient. It also gives you a very natural look. Available at ELF counters nationwide.

4. Mistine Lip and Cheek Tints - Since I avoid using a lot of makeups during this hot season, I just stick with lip and cheek tints. I love the Mistine lip and cheek tints because they are pigmented and you have different shades to choose from. I have two --- one berry shade which gives a more natural finish and a red orange tint which I use whenever I want a louder color for my lips. 5. Mistine Big Eyes Mascara - I rarely wear eye makeup even if it's not Summer. I just do eye makeups on special occasions and when I want to but usually, I just curl my eyelashes and apply mascara. I stay away from eyeliners during Summer because it might just smudge. My current favorite mascara is the Mistine Big Eyes mascara because it can really lengthen my short and thin eyelashes.
