Product Rave-iew: Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser

Recently, Burt's Bees has launched their Daisy White line that features 5 skin care products. I've already tried three of them but my favorite would have to be the facial cleanser.

Product Name: Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser
Price: P795/170g
Available at: Beauty Bar

This cream cleanser is clinically proven to help improve the appearance of surface dullness by gently exfoliating skin while cleansing away dirt, oil, and makeup without over-drying. The result is skin that looks brighter and luminous.

What it does:
- Cleanses away dirt, oil, and makeup without over-drying
- Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
- Dermatologist-tested

Active ingredients:
Daisy White Extract, Alpine Plant, and Multi-Fruit Complex

Proven efficacy:
Clinically proven to help improve the appearance of surface dullness by gently exfoliating skin

How to use:
Wet face and apply cleanser with fingertips or a wet washcloth, massaging gently, and avoiding contact with the eye area. Rinse thoroughly. Pat skin dry.

When I first tried the Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser, I thought that it won't thoroughly clean my skin since it doesn't really lather. It's a very mild cream, almost like Cetaphil. However, as I keep on massaging it on my face, I noticed that it was slowly melting off the makeup from my skin, even the waterproof makeup that I used. It was love at first use! It saves you time, product use, and money since you already get a 2-in-1 product --- a facial cleanser and a makeup remover in one tube.

A pea-size amount of the product is enough to clean my face but if you have fuller coverage of makeup, you might be needing more product.

Here's me with my makeup that was on my face for about 10 hours already!

Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser in action! As you can see in this photo, there are no bubbles yet it had already removed my makeup.

After rinsing, voila! Squeaky clean face! Another great thing is that it will also leave you with supple and smooth skin.

From the test that I took above, I've had my makeup on for around 10 hours already so my face makeup had already faded out, making it easier to remove everything. So, I decided to do another test wherein I had a heavier makeup and I've only had it for around 3 hours.

Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser was able to remove completely my face makeup but I did wash it twice because I had a very heavy and full makeup on. It was able to completely clean my face, even my super matte and waterproof lip product and my waterproof mascara. However, you can still see traces of eyeliner on my water line. It is stated in the directions to avoid eye area. Since I wanted to see if it can also remove eye makeup, I also washed the area around my eyes to remove everything including my mascara but I was massaging it with a very light hand to protect my delicate eyes. I was really scared that it might get into my eyes so I didn't bother removing my eyeliner. I just used a separate eye makeup remover to clean that after taking the photo. Hehe!

Overall, Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser is awesome! It can really remove dirt and makeup and will leave you with soft and smooth skin. The best thing is that it is 99% natural so it is very safe to use and healthy for your skin. So, I highly recommend this to everyone especially to people with sensitive skin.

Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser will visibly brighten your skin with continuous use together with the other products from the Daisy White line.

Repurchase? Heck yeah! :)

One Eyeshadow Smokey Eyes

Probably the most common eye makeup style is smokey eyes. There are different ways though to achieve smokey eyes and it may seem super easy to do one but it may require some skills and techniques, too.

Beginners always say they end up having raccoon eyes whenever they try to do smokey eyes and some say it takes a lot of time for them to do it. So, I decided to do a smokey eyes using only one eyeshadow which might help especially when you're in a hurry. This eye makeup look can be paired with any lip color so it's also perfect for any occasion. All you need is a good blending brush and a brown eyeshadow. You can choose medium brown or dark brown.

Achieving a perfect smokey eyes is all about blending! If you blend with a heavy hand, you'll end up having blotchy eye makeup and harsh edges. If you over blend, the eyeshadow wouldn't be noticeable. The best way is to blend your eyeshadow using the tip of the blending brush with a very light hand.

To spice up the eye makeup, you can line your lower lash lines with the same eye shadow, tightline your eyes with a black eye pencil and then apply generous coats of mascara!

Watch my video tutorial to see how I did it:

My Summer Essentials (2014)

While others love being under the Sun at the beach, I chose to stay indoors. I know it may look like I'm a major buzz kill but we all know that Summer here in the Philippines is insanely hot and I can't stand it at times. But with all my makeup gigs and other meetings, I can't just stay under a roof. I also need to go outside and of course, I also want to have fun and celebrate before classes start in June.

With the harmful Sun and the very hot and humid weather we have, I need my own weapons to protect my skin. Here are the skin care and makeup products that I've been using a lot this Summer 2014.

Skin Care Essentials

1. Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Toner - This 99% natural toner helps remove traces of dirt and oil from your skin leaving you with a soft skin. Very mild on the skin as well and doesn't contain harmful chemicals that can react badly when exposed to the Sun. Available at all Beauty Bar stores.

2. Royale Beauty L-Gluta Power Whitening and Smoothening Cream - Perfect for Summer since it has UVA/UVB protection. It is also easily absorbed by the skin and not greasy even if you sweat. Plus, it also helps lighten the skin. Read my review here. Available at Queen B.

3. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock  SPF 50 - Well, I don't really use this all the time but this comes in handy when you go to the beach or if you're under the Sun a lot. It has SPF 50 and the higher the SPF, the thicker and the heavier the consistency. This one, although it has high SPF, it doesn't have the greasy and sticky texture unlike other sunblocks. Definitely a must-have. Available at all Watsons nationwide.

4. Royale Beauty L-Gluta Power Lightening Lotion - One of the best lotions ever! It contains UVA/UVB protection to prevent Sun damage. Consistency is a little thick and might take a few seconds and rubs before your skin can completely absorb it but it's not greasy or slippery. In addition to that, it also has an instant whitening effect and can whiten the skin with continuous use. Available at Queen B.

5. L'Opulent Femme Anti-Perspirant Deodorant - When it's hot, we sweat a lot! Haha! And we girls don't want sweaty armpits, of course! You might want to try this L'Opulent Femme Anti-Perspirant Deodorant. This is also under Royale. It doesn't make my underarms sweat! Dry feeling all day, I swear. Also available at Queen B.

Makeup Essentials

1. Ellana Minerals Loose Mineral Powder Foundation - During Summertime, you may want to avoid wearing a lot of makeup. Given the very hot weather, we tend to sweat a lot and if we apply layers and layers of makeup on our face, it might just cake plus it will give you a very irritating feeling. Very uncomfortable! This Summer, I just use my Ellana Minerals Loose Mineral Powder Foundation. It requires less makeup product since it's already a foundation and a setting powder in one plus coverage is really good, too. If I have dark spots and other imperfections, I use a little concealer then this powder foundation. Review soon! If you want to get your own, click this link to be redirected to their site and get 15% off your purchase. Also available in The Ramp Crossings at Trinoma, Cinderella SM Megamall, Cinderella, Glorietta, and Cinderella ATC.

2. Moonkini Flat Top Brush - One of my favorite Universal brushes! Perfect for applying foundation and powder. Also, it is short so it can fit inside your makeup kit and bring it with you anywhere you go! Only P150.00 from Pretty Angel Shoppe.

3. ELF Eyebrow Treat and Tame - Summer is a lazy season for me so I usually just use an eyebrow mascara to fill in my brows so it would be easier and more convenient. It also gives you a very natural look. Available at ELF counters nationwide.

4. Mistine Lip and Cheek Tints - Since I avoid using a lot of makeups during this hot season, I just stick with lip and cheek tints. I love the Mistine lip and cheek tints because they are pigmented and you have different shades to choose from. I have two --- one berry shade which gives a more natural finish and a red orange tint which I use whenever I want a louder color for my lips. Also, since it can be used for your lips and cheeks already, it saves space in your makeup kit. No need to bring a separate blush and lipstick! Available at The Mestiza Hub.

5. Mistine Big Eyes Mascara - I rarely wear eye makeup even if it's not Summer. I just do eye makeups on special occasions and when I want to but usually, I just curl my eyelashes and apply mascara. I stay away from eyeliners during Summer because it might just smudge. My current favorite mascara is the Mistine Big Eyes mascara because it can really lengthen my short and thin eyelashes. Also available at The Mestiza Hub.

So, yeah, that's it. Summer is not yet over so you can still give these products a try. Hope you can share you favorite Summer essentials, too! :)

Khloe Kardashian 2014 Oscars Inspired Makeup

Last month while I was viewing photos of different celebrities during the Oscars 2014, Khloe Kardashian caught my attention. I loved everything about her look --- from her hair, to her makeup, to her outfit! She looked absolutely stunning with that lip color and that lashes! Ahh! Definitely a head-turner! No surprise that a lot of YouTube beauty gurus from different countries tried to recreate her look. Ang ganda kasi talaga! So, I decided to do a makeup tutorial inspired by her look at the Oscars 2014 Party. And yes, this is a late post. :)

Here's a side-by-side photo of Khloe K. and myself with a makeup look inspired by her:

Before filming this video, my sister and I went to the mall and we discovered the Jazzy Collections Kiss Proof Lip Gloss. We fell in love with its quality! Great color payoff and the finish is really matte like the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers and Lime Crime Velvetines. I chose a pinky coral shade and my sister chose the brown shade. Yes, brown! It's so gorgeous! When she put it on her lips, I knew right away that it would be the perfect lip product for my Khloe K. inspired makeup! So, that night, I filmed the video as soon as we got home!

Well, the Jazzy Collection Kiss Proof Lip Gloss in Chocolate Brown is too brown so I applied a deep shade of red lipstick on top of it to really copy Khloe's lip color at the Oscars 2014 Party.

Foundation Routine: Full Coverage + Wet Contouring

Ever since I bought the Essence Stay All Day 16hr Foundation, I can't seem to stop using it! I just love how it gives a flawless and full coverage. You can also use it for any occasion, day or night, since you can control the amount of the product you're going to use and the coverage that you want to achieve.

I have a video of my full coverage foundation routine plus I also showed in the video the wet method of contouring. Do you know how Kim Kardashian contours and highlights her face? Well, it's kind of like that but hers is much heavier and fuller.

Here's my before and after shot:

PRODUCTS USED:

1. Essence Stay All Day 16hr Foundation (P299.00) - Provides medium to full coverage and creates a flawless finish. Click here to read more about this foundation.

2. Glory of New York Total Cover Up Concealer in 100 (price not available) - A creamy mineral concealer that gives excellent coverage! Available at Queen B. (online shop).

3. ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream (P168.00) - The cream-type version of the famous ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Duo powder. I used the bronzing cream to contour my face. Since it doesn't have any shimmery particles (unlike its powder counterpart), you can use it for contouring. Available at The Primp Pad (online shop).

4. Glory of New York Translucent Powder (P1,000) - Since the foundation that I used matches my skin tone perfectly, I didn't use a colored powder anymore. I used straight a translucent powder to set my foundation and so that it will stay on for longer hours. My favorite translucent powder of all time is the Glory of New York Translucent Powder. It is very finely milled and not grainy at all and it really does prevent your makeup from creasing and from caking. Available at Queen B.

My First Ever BLEND IT Makeup Workshop!

Since last year, a lot of people are asking me and encouraging me to have my own makeup workshop. I didn't have the courage yet at that time but these past months, I was receiving a lot of support and love from my family, friends, and supporters so I earned the pluck to finally hold one. I named my makeup workshop BLEND IT because it is focused on eye makeup application and eyebrow definition, although, of course, I'm going to teach the basic makeup application. It's just that, everytime I do my makeup, people always compliment my eye makeup and eyebrows so I decided to focus on that area.

The first BLEND IT makeup workshop was held at the new Glory of New York Showroom last May 10, 2014. Thank you, Glory of New York!!!

It was a successful one and I am really happy about it. Everyone had fun and I am so proud of my lovely students because they are all fast learners. Plus, they are very fun to be with as well.

Burt's Bees Daisy White Exclusive Blogger Launch

One of my favorite lip balms would have to be Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. Not all lip balms in the market works but this one is really moisturizing and it is made of natural ingredients so it also gives love and care for your lips. Last May 9, 2014, they launched their newest skin care line which is called Daisy White and I was really excited when I was invited.

The Burt's Bees Daisy White Blogger Launch was held at a very fancy restaurant called Le Jardin at W Fifth Building, Penthouse Floor at BGC. Everything about the event was just so classy and bright.

Here are the complete products from Burt's Bees Daisy White line. These products contain white daisy extract which is known to regulate skin's melanin production that will result in a brighter and more luminous complexion. They have the Daisy White Facial Cleanser, Daisy White Facial Toner, Daisy White Serum, Daisy White Eye Cream, and Daisy White Moisturizing Cream. They all smell so good and I've tried a couple of these products already but more on this in a separate blog. :)

In line with the event's theme, we were asked to wear white. I don't really have a lot of white clothes because I don't like wearing white so here's the closest top that I found in my closet.

While we were waiting for our lunch to be served, we had a mini photo shoot with top photographer, Shaira Luna. We were required to wear a flower crown and we could either make our own or just wear their ready-to-use flower crown. Although there's an instruction card on how to make a flower crown, I decided to just wear the ready-to-wear one because I'm not really good in crafts and stuff like that. Hehe!

They even have hairstylists at the event so we can have our hair styled for the mini photo shoot. Cool! The photos will serve as one of our souvenirs.

I didn't ask for a bonggang hairstyle, I just had the ends of my hair curled. :)

Burt's Bees Lip Gloss samples were also laid out on the table so we could try and use it for the mini shoot. I chose the shade Evening Glow because it's red. I loved it, by the way. It's not sticky and gives just the right amount of sheen on the lips.

Ta-dah! Here's me with the flower crown! Haha! It was my first time to wear one. Bagay ba? ^_^
