Product Review: L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

A couple of months ago, L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation was finally launched here in the Philippines. Before, we can only buy them from our local online stores and since I am not a huge fan of online shopping, I haven't got the chance to try it until it finally arrived here in PH.

Even before it was launched here, a lot of people are already raving about it. They said it is the best foundation for people with oily skin. Of course, I was curious and wanted to see for myself so when I finally got my own tube, I immediately tested the product.

Product RAVE-iew: Jazzy France Sleek Matte Eyeshadow

I rarely buy eyeshadows from the local cosmetic brands and I rarely buy makeup products impulsively BUT when I see a product that I know is going to be worth every cent, I wouldn't even think twice! Especially when I am sure it is going to help me and my makeup clients hugely.

I first saw this eyeshadow palette from Paul Unating (Pro Hair and Makeup Artist) and Kris Lumagui (Filipina YouTube vlogger). It immediately caught my attention because based on Paul's makeup tutorial video in YouTube and Ate Kris' photo on Facebook, it looks really promising. However, I just let it slip until I visited SM North Edsa this one time and saw this palette as I was exploring (as usual) the makeup section at Watsons.

Product Review: Mary Kay Concealer

During school days and on regular days, I like wearing only minimal makeup. You know, just to look fresh, flawless, and more presentable. I usually just conceal my imperfections on my face, such as blemishes, set it with powder, apply tinted brow gel to groom my brows, apply mascara to open my peepers, and dab on some lip stain. However, looking for really good concealers can be tricky. It should match your skin tone, should match your skin type, it should have a decent coverage, and it should be long-lasting, especially if you'll be out for hours. In this post, I'll be sharing with you one of the best concealers that I've tried.

Recently, Burt's Bees has launched their Daisy White line that features 5 skin care products. I've already tried three of them but my favorite would have to be the facial cleanser.

This cream cleanser is clinically proven to help improve the appearance of surface dullness by gently exfoliating skin while cleansing away dirt, oil, and makeup without over-drying. The result is skin that looks brighter and luminous.

How to use:

Wet face and apply cleanser with fingertips or a wet washcloth, massaging gently, and avoiding contact with the eye area. Rinse thoroughly. Pat skin dry.

When I first tried the Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser, I thought that it won't thoroughly clean my skin since it doesn't really lather. It's a very mild cream, almost like Cetaphil. However, as I keep on massaging it on my face, I noticed that it was slowly melting off the makeup from my skin, even the waterproof makeup that I used. It was love at first use! It saves you time, product use, and money since you already get a 2-in-1 product --- a facial cleanser and a makeup remover in one tube.

A pea-size amount of the product is enough to clean my face but if you have fuller coverage of makeup, you might be needing more product.

Here's me with my makeup that was on my face for about 10 hours already!

After rinsing, voila! Squeaky clean face! Another great thing is that it will also leave you with supple and smooth skin.

From the test that I took above, I've had my makeup on for around 10 hours already so my face makeup had already faded out, making it easier to remove everything. So, I decided to do another test wherein I had a heavier makeup and I've only had it for around 3 hours.

Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser was able to remove completely my face makeup but I did wash it twice because I had a very heavy and full makeup on. It was able to completely clean my face, even my super matte and waterproof lip product and my waterproof mascara. However, you can still see traces of eyeliner on my water line. It is stated in the directions to avoid eye area. Since I wanted to see if it can also remove eye makeup, I also washed the area around my eyes to remove everything including my mascara but I was massaging it with a very light hand to protect my delicate eyes. I was really scared that it might get into my eyes so I didn't bother removing my eyeliner. I just used a separate eye makeup remover to clean that after taking the photo. Hehe!

Overall, Burt's Bees Daisy White Facial Cleanser is awesome! It can really remove dirt and makeup and will leave you with soft and smooth skin. The best thing is that it is 99% natural so it is very safe to use and healthy for your skin. So, I highly recommend this to everyone especially to people with sensitive skin.

Product RAVE-iew: Royale Beauty Kojic Papaya Soap, Pinkish Glow Toner, and L-Gluta Power Whitening & Smoothening Cream

One of my biggest problems when it comes to skin are dark spots/blemishes. I've been having a lot of small breakouts this past months and I think it's because of my sleeping routine and the foods that I eat. When pimples heal, of course they will turn into scars and those scars occasionally get darker. Dark scars take time to lighten and it's kind of a pain in the butt to keep on concealing it everytime I do my makeup!

Then my brother and my sister became a member of Royale Business Club International, Inc. and I was introduced to their skin care products. When I first heard of Royale, I didn't care much about it. Then my brother and his family started using their Kojic Papaya Soap and we were really impressed with the results. It really heals the pimples of my nieces and nephew and their faces brightened up within just a week, seriously. So, my sister signed up for a membership and she got her products. We decided to try their products first before selling it to people so that we would know if they really work.

The first products that we tried are the Royale Beauty Kojic Papaya Soap as our facial cleanser and body soap, Royale Beauty Pinkish Glow Cleansing and Brightening Toner, and Royale Beauty L-Gluta Power Whitening and Smoothening Cream as our moisturizer. That time, I had a lot of pimples and dark spots on my face so it was a good time to try out the products that I've just listed.

Before I talk about the products one by one, let me show you a before-and-after photo within a week of using these three Royale products.

You can clearly see that I have a lot of pimples on my forehead and dark scars on different areas of my face. After a week of using the Royale Beauty skin care products, my pimples and small breakouts were healed completely and my dark spots lightened, some even disappeared completely. Amazing, isn't it?

My sister loves it so much and she said it is so moisturizing that you can already skip moisturizer... but of course, I still moisturize after I tone my skin. :) If you already have fair skin, this will give you a pinkish or rosy cheeks making you look more mestisa. If you're not that light-skinned, this will help lighten your skin. This toner is very mild so you won't feel any tingling and tightening effect when you use it.

3. Royale Beauty L-Gluta Power Whitening and Smoothening Cream (P530.00)

Combined with the power of time tested lightening ingredient, a master anti-oxidant and UV absorbers, L-GLUTA POWER WHITENING AND SMOOTHENING CREAM offers all around defenses against factors that cause dark spot and uneven skin tone and works not only to lighten the skin but also helps it become healthier.

I am convinced that this moisturizer plays the biggest role in lightening my dark spots! It is really moisturizing as well and it really smoothened my skin and made it firmer. I also love that it has UVA/UVB protection to keep your skin safe from the harmful Sun rays.

So, after a week of using these three products, I decided to do another test. I took another photo from my first week of using it then took another photo after two weeks:

In between those two weeks, some of my previous small breakouts already healed and they turned into scars again so I got a few more dark spots on some areas of my face. However, you can see that my old dark scars got even lighter and some diminished already, especially those scars on my chin area and those around my mouth. The scars between my eyebrows are almost gone, too! Very, very impressive! I also noticed that my pores were minimized and I believe it's because of the Royale Beauty Pinkish Glow Cleansing and Brightening Toner.

Oh, I wish you can touch my skin right now so that you'll feel how smooth and soft it is! Hihi! I noticed that my skin was evened-out as well and it may not be that noticeable in the photo but my skin looks even brighter and whiter now.

Do I need to say it? YES! I will definitely repurchase and I highly recommend it to everyone! It may not be as affordable as other drugstore skin care products but it's not really expensive, too. And also, I assure you that these Royale Beauty skin care products are worth your money!

Product Rave-iew: Essence Stay All Day 16-Hour Long Lasting Makeup

I'm back to share with you another AMAZING foundation! When I tried the Essence Clear & Matt Oil-Free Foundation and wrote a review about it, a lot of people told me to try the Essence Stay All Day 16-Hour Long Lasting Makeup because they said it is way better. It took me half a year before I could find the chance to finally try it out and now, I fully understand why those people said that this foundation is way better.

I'm planning to do another 1-brand makeup tutorial featuring Essence cosmetics and I wanted a foundation with fuller coverage. Since the two Essence foundations that I have (Clear & Matt and Soft Touch Mousse) can only provide light coverage, I decided to buy another Essence foundation. When I swatched the Essence Stay All Day 16-Hour foundation, I was sold. I was impressed with the consistency of this foundation that I decided to buy it without hesitance.

PACKAGING

- This foundation comes in a plastic bottle which I thought was a tin can. It contains 1 fluid ounce of the product which is pretty standard or typical for liquid foundations. The bottle comes in a pump which I absolutely love.

SHADE AVAILABILITY

- Essence Stay All Day 16-Hour foundation is available in 4 shades only. I hope they can come up with more shades. This shade that I got, Soft Beige, looks a bit orange-y once it sets on the skin. This is the closest to my natural skin color thought that's why I chose this and since it matches my skin color already, I always set it with a translucent powder instead of a colored setting powder.

CONSISTENCY AND TEXTURE

- This foundation is very creamy, almost like a mousse. When I apply it on the back of my hand, it doesn't run but the consistency is not really that thick. It has a silky texture that's why it's always a joy to apply and to blend.

COVERAGE AND FINISH

- The coverage is medium to full. It can definitely conceal imperfections on the face. With just one layer, it can already cover dark circles around the eyes, redness of the skin and lighter pimple scars. For darker and bigger spots, you might need two layers to fully conceal them. Essence Stay All Day 16-Hour foundation almost has a semi-matte finish and it sets really well on the skin. This foundation claims to give you a flawless, silky complexion and I ABSOLUTELY agree.

LONGEVITY

- The longevity of this product is really commendable. It stays on for long hours on my skin. I've tried wearing this for longer that 16 hours. Since I have oily-combination skin, I got oily on my t-zone area by the middle of the day but very slightly. At the end of the day, it had already faded a little around the nose area and under my eyes but overall, the coverage still looked pretty great. It's a shame that I didn't get to take photos during that time so I did another road test but with shorter time.

Overall, I can say that the Essence Stay All Day 16-Hour Long Lasting Makeup is an AMAZING product. The quality is really awesome yet the price is really affordable for only P299.00! I actually wouldn't mind using this on my makeup clients because this is actually better than a few of my more expensive foundations. I will definitely repurchase and I absolutely recommend this to you guys, especially to people with oily or oily-combination skin. :)

Product Rave-iew: Avon Ideal Luminous Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation

Hi everyone! Welcome to my first product review for the year 2014! Hehe!

Lately, I've been busy with school works, events, and I'm more focused in my YouTube channel. I missed writing products reviews and sharing here in my blog my makeup works so here I am! I want to share with you this product that I've been really loving. I've been using this particular foundation for months now and I just can't stop using it ever since I first tried it and found out how awesome it is! Ladies, meet my current favorite foundation, the Avon Ideal Luminous Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation (whoa, that's a mouthful)!

This is the first foundation that I've tried from Avon and I just want to say that this makes me want to try more of their foundations! The Avon Ideal Luminous Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation comes in a small squeezable bottle which contains 30g of the product. It has a small nozzle which I like because it avoids the product from spilling and you can control the amount of product you're going to use.

I'm sorry for the dirty nozzle. I've been using it a lot!

What made me fall in love with this product is its amazing coverage! This liquid foundation by Avon is a little thick in consistency but it's not heavy on the face. It blends and sets well on the skin like a BB cream which is just awesome because even though the texture is not that thick, it still provides amazing coverage. It can conceal dark circles, redness of the skin and other blemishes. However, it cannot fully conceal really dark spots and I guess, you need two layers to fully conceal dark circles but that's okay. The coverage is still commendable. It also gives a smooth and luminous finish. Every time I use this foundation, I get a lot of compliments and people always ask me what foundation I used because they said my skin looks really smooth and flawless. Hihi! Another plus factor is that the Avon Ideal Luminous Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation has SPF 15/PA++. Oh, it has a mild floral scent which I actually like.

See how it was able to conceal the imperfections on my face? Amazing, isn't it? But the coverage isn't the only reason why I love this foundation. Longevity counts, too, you know and this foundation has great staying power as well. The coverage stays on for long hours without retouching at all. Here's my usual photo test:

I took a selfie around 4pm after doing my complete makeup and before I went to school today. Then around 7pm, I went back home and immediately took another selfie to compare. As you can see, coverage is still good and I got just a little bit oily on my t-zone and cheek area. Then I went to TriNoMa with my sister and our Mom without retouching nor even blotting my face because I really want to show you the foundation's quality. We shopped a little, dined in, and watched a movie. Bride For Rent starring Kim Chiu and Xian Lim is a really funny movie, by the way. Hehe! Anyway, we got home at around 12:30AM already. I did some things first and before I removed my makeup, I took another selfie. The foundation started to fade out under my eyes and between my nose and lips and my skin got oilier but the coverage is still not bad at all! It's still pretty good! Isn't it amazing? Isn't it surprising? (Sorry, I still have a Kim Chiu hangover from watching the movie)

I absolutely love the Avon Ideal Luminous Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation! I'm already running out of it and I will 100% surely repurchase. The powder that I used in the photo test above by the way is Fashion 21 Two Way Cake with Milk Moisturizers. You might think that the powder helped in the foundation's longevity but I've used different powders already to set this foundation and I always get the same result. :)

Product Rave-iew: Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Kit

While a lot of people hate Mondays so much, I, on the other hand, love it! I have no classes on Mondays and my class schedule the next day will start at 4PM so I am super free to do anything I want! One of the best things is that I can write and write and write here in my blog and it's awesome because I always meet deadlines. Still, those are my own deadlines. Haha!

Anyway, today let's talk about the Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Kit! Last time, I reviewed the Beauty Cosmetics Face Precision Kit and if you haven't read that yet, please click here!

The main reason why I love Beauty Cosmetics is because they sell affordable but good quality makeup brushes! One of my favorite sets from them is the Face Perfection Kit. I haven't tried any Sigma Beauty makeup brushes but they say that the Face Perfection Kit by Beauty Cosmetics is a dupe for Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit. I researched about the mentioned Sigma brushes and just by the looks of it, it seems like the Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Kit is a dupe of the Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit. In fact, the Beauty Cosmetics Face Precision Kit is also a dupe for the Sigma Synthetic Precision Kit.

The Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Kit comes with 5 kabuki brushes - Angle Flat Top Kabuki brush, Flat Top  Kabuki brush, Angled Kabuki brush, Rounded Kabuki brush and Tapered Kabuki brush.

The brushes are made with synthetic fibers. The pink handles are made up of plastic and the ferrules are stainless. The bristles of the brushes are super soft, I could just run it back and forth on my face! It's just so soft! Also, the bristles are dense enough but what I love about them is that they are not tightly packed so the chances of leaving streak marks when you apply foundation or concealer is low. For me, and I'm basing this from personal experience, super tightly packed bristles can create streak marks. The Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection brushes are just dense enough so the bristles on the edge of the brushes can really blend out the product seamlessly.

When it comes to cleaning the brush, they don't shed, not even a single bristle. It just takes time for them to dry, though but other than that, I don't have any problem with it.

Let's go through them one by one:

1. Tapered Kabuki Brush - designed to apply makeup on hard to reach areas of the face such as the sides of the nose. It's also great to apply foundation under the eyes.

2. Flat Angled Kabuki Brush - for me this is the most versatile brush out of the 5. It's designed to apply foundation anywhere on the face because it can fit perfectly on different areas of your face because it is angled and has a flat top. Perfect to use in applying foundation on cheek bones and sides of the nose and on the hollows of the eyes.

3. Flat Top Kabuki Brush - This brush is designed to apply foundation on the flat areas on your face such as on your forehead, cheeks and chin.

4. Rounded Kabuki Brush - my favorite out of the 5 because it blends out the foundation/concealer really well! I think, next to the Flat Angled, this is the most versatile brush in this kit.

5. Angled Kabuki Brush - designed to apply cream blush and contour your face

Overall, these brushes are just the bomb! The Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Kit only costs Php 950.00 and it's such a steal! It's already affordable for its price, I'm telling ya. And since sharing affordable but good quality finds is a part of this "awesome project", I highly recommend this to all makeup artists and makeup enthusiasts! :)

Product RAVE-iew: Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel

Having a flawless skin is very significant especially when you always do your makeup. It just makes everything easier and you always have a smooth canvass so your makeup appears almost perfect. As a makeup artist and a beauty blogger/guru, taking care of my skin is my first priority. I've tried a lot of products before and some really worked perfectly on me.

They say to achieve a smoother skin and to remove the dead skin cells, you should exfoliate your skin at least once or twice a week. When I hear the word exfoliate, I always think about facial scrubs. The ones that has micro beads that acts as the exfoliant and help removes dead skin cells. However, facial scrubs like that can sometimes harm our skin because we all know that our skin is very delicate, especially on our face. Before, I kind of got carried away (haha) in exfoliating my face that I rubbed my face too hard and I ended up getting a scratch on my under eye area.

Thank goodness for there are available non-abrasive exfoliants out there! When you say non-abrasive, it means that it doesn't contain any beads or scrubs. However, some people might be skeptic to use it because they might think that how can a gel or a liquid product help exfoliate your skin and remove the stubborn dead skin cells? That's what I also thought before but when I tried the Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel, I was amazed and impressed.

Have you heard about the Cure Natural Aqua Gel which they say is the number 1 selling skin care product in Japan? Well, the Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel is just like that.

The GNY Skin Enzyme Peel is a gel-type of formula but as your rub it on your skin, the consistency will become thinner, almost like water, and that liquid will soften your skin and the dead skin cells and other impurities on your skin will eventually come off. Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel contains fruit extracts such as papaya, grapefruit, and pineapple. It also has pure aloe vera gel and spearmint camphor oil that's why it has a faint smell of spearmint.

Directions:

Make sure that your skin is clean and dry before using the Skin Enzyme Peel. It's best to use the GNY Facial Cleansing as your face wash. Next, gradually apply the Skyn Enzyme Peel all over the face and keep buffing until the consistency becomes thin. Gently rub your skin, area by area, and you'll feel that micro beads will form and you'll see that dirt will start forming as well. Those are the dead skin cells being removed. Keep on rubbing until the forming of beads and dirt has stopped. Rinse your skin to remove the traces of dirt then follow with your moisturizer.

The directions that you've just read above is the direction that the owner herself taught me. The direction indicated on the product itself is a little confusing so if ever you're going to try it out, please follow the instruction I've written here. Or better yet, watch the demo video I've created:

The third time that I've used this product, to be honest, I was still a little skeptic about it. I was thinking maybe the dirt that forms on my skin when I use the GNY Skin Enzyme Peel is the product itself. Maybe, it was designed to form into small blobs like that. But NO. I did a test and after that, I was absolutely convinced as in 100% convinced!

Here's the test that I did. I swatched lipsticks on the back of my hand and I let it stay there the whole day. Those are GNY Lipsticks by the way. Then I tried washing it off and some of the shades left stains on the back of my hand. So what I did is, to test the effectiveness of the Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel, I applied it on the back of my hand, on top of the stain and check if the stain will come off. Here are the photos provided:

PICTURE NO. 1: My left hand with traces or stains of lipsticks.

PICTURE NO. 2: I applied a small amount of the Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel. You can still see the traces of the lipstick swatches.

PICTURE NO. 3: The lipstick marks were gone and you know that it came off because the dirt that came off is quite pinkish. I'm not sure though if you can see that but please take a closer look.

PICTURE NO. 4: After a few more minutes of rubbing, this is now how my hand looks like. You can see that there are no more traces or stains of the lipstick swatches. I hope the photos provided above are enough evidences that Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel is an amazing product! It helps removes whiteheads and blackheads on my nose so I now have a smoother nose and my foundation and powder don't settle on the pores anymore like before. It's just awesome! You can still see though that I have blemishes and pimple scars here and there. Well, the GNY Skin Enzyme Peel doesn't really remove the scar in just one use but it helps lighten them so as you use it regularly (twice a week), you will notice that your pimple scars eventually becomes lighter and lighter and lighter. :)

This is me using the Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel. You can see the dirt that had formed on my face. In Filipino terms, it's like libag. Hehe!

Now you know why this is my favorite skin care product ever. I love it because it gently exfoliates the skin and give you that smoother and softer skin. I've tried it on my family --- ALL OF THEM! From my parents to my brothers and sister and even on my nephews and nieces. They all loved it, we all love it.

The best thing about this is that you can also use this to soften thick skin on certain areas of your body like cuticles and feet. I have thick skin on my ankle and this product softened my skin and lightened it. Absolutely brilliant!

I recommend this to everyone! It's like you have a new-born skin every after use! I just like to remind you that you should not overuse it. I kind of got addicted to the product the first time I've tried it on because I was amazed on how it made my skin smoother. So I used it every other day and then I noticed that it already has a burning sensation. My face felt so warm, rather, hot and feels really sensitive. So I refrained from using it for a whole week. Whew! Haha! Also, you'll notice that when you tried to use it again just a couple of days ago after using it, it will barely form any dirt at all because your skin is still thin and fresh. Also, after I discovered that it can soften my ankles, I got addicted to it again so I used it on my ankle every night because I thought the skin there is thick and not as delicate as the skin on my face. But then after two nights of rubbing my ankle with the Glory of New York Skin Enzyme Peel, I noticed that the skin on the tips of my right index and middle fingers are becoming thin and sensitive as well because I use both of it to rub my ankle. Hahaha! So I ceased for a while and decided to just use it strictly twice a week. Well, it's a stupid thing to do but it just shows that the product ACTUALLY WORKS! :)
