1-Brand Makeup Tutorial: ESSENCE Cosmetics

Hi everyone! So I've got another 1-brand makeup tutorial for you. This time, I featured Essence cosmetics. Essence, I think, is one of the best drugstore brands of cosmetics in the beauty industry. Most of their products have great quality but the prices won't hurt your pocket. In this makeup look, I've picked out some of their greatest products that are really worth trying, especially the foundation and the translucent powder.

Most of the Essence cosmetics that I have have neutral shades so I decided to go for a soft look that you can wear at a wedding. It can be a bridesmaids makeup or even a wedding guest makeup.

I used an eyebrow powder in this tutorial which made the whole look softer and more natural. I also maximized the use of the eyebrow powder by using it as my contouring powder. Unfortunately, everytime I visit Essence counters in malls, their matte bronzers are always out of stock!

For the eyes, I went for a very simple eye makeup. Honestly, Essence eyeshadows don't have that WOW factor. It's a good thing that they have a good eye primer so it helped in making the eyeshadows appear more pigmented.

PRODUCTS USED:

- Essence Stay All Day 16hr Foundation in Soft Beige
- Essence All About Matt Fixing Loose Powder
- Essence Eyebrow Stylist
- Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base
- Essence Sun Club Glamour-To-Go Eyeshadow Palette
- Essence I Love Stage Liquid Eyeliner
- Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl Mascara
- Essence Silky Touch Blush in Natural Beauty
- Essence Lip Liner in In The Nude
- Essence XXL Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Pink

1-Brand Makeup Tutorial: Fashion 21 Cosmetics - "Rebel Girl"

It's been almost two months (or already two months) since I completed my Fashion 21 Cosmetics stash for my 1-brand makeup tutorial but it was just a few days ago that I filmed it. I just want to make sure that the products that I'd be using are worth sharing to you guys. I already have Fashion 21 products such as their powders, eyeshadows and their Double Up Mascara (which I absolutely love) and they all impressed me --- that's why Fashion 21 is my favorite local brand of cosmetics here in the Philippines. Last May, I bought their stick concealer, eyeliner, blush, and lipstick so that I can do a tutorial using only Fashion 21 Cosmetics.

After road testing the products and not finding any huge problem about using them, I decided to push through with the tutorial. I've been planning for this for months and a lot of makeup looks and themes came to mind since I have their Color Set (eyeshadow palette) which contains tons of colors! So my mind is going insane! The first theme that I came up with was Mafia Lady but I realized I've been using a lot of browns and neutrals in my previous videos so I decided to go for something wherein I can use different colors! I thought of the theme Rebel Girl and this is what I came up with:

Purple eyeshadow paired with red lip color just looks so beautiful for me. A couple of years ago, I saw this photo in Google. It's an image of a punk / rebellious kind of girl and she has this purple smokey eyes paired with wine red lip color and that image stuck in my head ever since! In this look, I also used Michelle Phan as my inspiration. She likes doing winged-out eyeshadows and that's what I did in this look!

Oh, and don't you think the gray lenses gave an extra oomph on the eye makeup? Fab Beau Lusst sent me these lenses and it was right on time and I was so glad that they sent me a gray pair since me and my sister think that gray eyes make any eye makeup look mesmerizing and more attractive. It was my first time though to do a makeup tutorial with lenses on so I was really happy and excited! Haha!

Here's the video tutorial:

Out of all the Fashion 21 products that I used in the tutorial, my favorites are the Loose Powder, Two Way Cake with Milk Moisturizers, Perfect Stick with Tea Tree Oil, Double Up Mascara, Defining Eyeliner, and of course, Roll N' Dazzle in Pink Diamond (okay, almost everything)! I think those products are really worth raving for because they are so affordable yet have good quality. The Color Set is great, too but some are not that pigmented. Same with the Single Blush-On, too - not really pigmented and just... eh, okay! The Dipliner is also just okay for me. It's actually a little sticky so I'm not really a fan of it. And I'm not crazy about the Red Romance lipstick since it bleeds. I love the color Heartthrob, though! If you want me to review any of the Fashion 21 product that I haven't reviewed yet, please let me know. :)

This is how my makeup looked like in flash photography:

1 Brand Makeup Tutorial: San San Cosmetics / HBC (Pin Up Girl Edition)

My subscribers and followers seem to be interested more in reading and watching about local products and drugstore finds. Maybe because they have easier access to those products, and of course, they are affordable! Perfect for... well, not really kuripot but perfect for a "practical" girl like me! Agree?

So, I decided to do another one brand makeup tutorial. This is only my second. The first one that I did was already a year ago and I featured Ever Bilena/Careline in that one. When I checked my YouTube account's analytics, I discovered that that video was my major hit and got the highest number of views among all of my videos. My next major hit was my Brown and Peach Makeup Tutorial using Local Cosmetics! Within just 1 month, that video gained 1k+ views and my videos usually take a few months before hitting over 1k of views.

That's why I decided to do another practical but awesome makeup tutorial, of course! Also, a lot have been requesting me to do another 1 brand makeup tutorial using San San or HBC products. Well, your wish is my command! ;-)

I thought of adding a theme in my 1 brand makeup tutorials and this time, I decided to go retro! Here's a pin up makeup look using all SAN SAN COSMETICS / HBC PRODUCTS!

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter that much if the products that you're using are high-ends or drugstore ones. It's all about the execution, how you wear it and how you carry yourself! Right? E wala tayong magagawa kung 'yan lang talaga ang keri ng bulsa ng karamihan sa atin, 'di ba? ;-)
If you know how to be confident and if you executed proper makeup application, no one can really tell if you're wearing high end cosmetics or local cosmetics. So, don't be shy ladies! Some drugstore cosmetics are better than the expensive ones. Just because a product is expensive, it doesn't mean it's better than the drugstore ones. I know a lot of beauty bloggers will agree... based on their product reviews. Hihi!

Anyway, I blogged about my San San/HBC Haul a few days ago before I uploaded my video. HBC products are already affordable but it was so cool that when I bought the products that I used in this look, HBC was on sale! Hooray for that! Check out my HBC haul here to find out how much did I pay for everything!

Here is the video tutorial:

PRODUCTS USED:
*The prices next to each products are their original prices. Please read my HBC Haul to know their sale prices.*

FACE
San San Matte Liquid Foundation No. 3 (P130.00)
*Read my review here*
San San Soleil Matte Foundation (discontinued, boooo!!!)
San San Pressed Powder No. 1 Refill (P70.00)
San San Cheek Blusher in Mocha Blush (P102.00)

QUICK TIP!!!
San San doesn't have any contouring powder so I chose their darkest blusher. I applied it in an angled upward direction to sculpt my cheek bones. This is a good technique if you don't have any contouring powder OR you can even use the eyebrow pencil for contouring. ;-)

EYES AND BROWS
San San Eyebrow Pencil No. 3 (P55.00)
San San Allue Eyeshadow Duo in Golden Game (P59.50)
San San Age Defying Trio Eyeshadow (P101.00)
*Read my review here*
San San Kohl Eyeliner in Black (P105.00)
San San Age Defying Liquid Liner (P75.00)
San San Mascara Long Lash (P125.00)
HBC Essentials False Eyelashes in NE42 (P20.75)

LIPS
San San Creamy Matte Lipstick in Really Red (P125.00)

See how affordable the products are? Not to mention that I got most of them at discounted prices! :) And FYI, HBC creates awesome products (i.e. matte liquid foundations, eyebrow pencils, blushers, etc.)

Please let me know what makeup brand you want me to feature in my next one brand tutorial. Also, tell me if you want me to do a review in any of the products that I used for this pin up girl look. Talk soon!

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! ;)

HBC / San San Cosmetics Haul

Hello everyone!

Last night before I went home from school, I stopped by HBC at Tandang Sora, QC to purchase San San cosmetics and other HBC products that I could use for my next 1-brand makeup tutorial. It's kind of a thing in the YouTube beauty community. The beauty gurus do a makeup tutorial using products from only one brand. No need for explanation, but what the heck! :) If you haven't watched my first 1-brand makeup tutorial wherein I used Ever Bilena / Careline products, here it is:

So, I searched for products that I can use for my HBC/San San makeup tutorial and I noticed something. HBC/ San San cosmetics doesn't carry a wide range of eye shadows. They have eye shadows but the shades are very limited. The only eye shadow palette that they have are the cream eye shadows from their age defying line. Their other eye shadows are from their makeup sets already which I don't really like because usually, the shades doesn't match or the other product from the makeup set (i.e. blush, lip color) is not really that good. Anyway, as I was looking for a prospect eye shadow for my next makeup tutorial, would you believe that what I've found was their eye shadow duo from their Allue line which is created for teens and kids! It comes in different shades but I chose the neutral duo since I was going to do a pin up makeup look. :)

I already have foundations from San San so I didn't bother buying a new one anymore. I was tempted to buy their new BB Cream but I thought it's not really necessary. Plus the shade is too dark for me. Maybe some other time, we'll see!

Here are the products that I purchased:

1. San San Pressed Powder in No. 1 (Refill)
- It's my first time to try out this powder so I just bought the refill. HBC was on sale so I got this for only P63.00 which originally retails for P70.00!

2. San San Cheek Blusher in Mocha Blush
- San San Cosmetics doesn't carry any contouring or bronzing powder. They don't even have a powder that is dark enough to substitute for a contouring powder. So, I decided to buy their darker blush which I can use to sculpt my cheek bones. :) I got this for only P92.00 but the original price is P102.00.

3. Allue Eyeshadow Duo in Golden Game
- Like what I've said, this is the only eye shadow that looks appealing to me and matched my theme which is Pin Up Makeup Look. This retails for P59.50 but I got it for only P50.00.

4. San San Eyebrow Pencil in No. 3
- I already have the shade No. 2 but I always thought it's a little too reddish so I decided to buy this one which looks more natural on me. Plus, it now comes with a sharpener! Yay for that! This is discounted at only P44.00 but it originally costs P55.00.

5. San San Kohl Eyeliner in Black
- I haven't tried any black eye pencil from San San so this is my first black eye pencil from this brand. It's a dual ended pencil. The other end is a smudger. It retails for P105.00 but I got it for only P84.00!

6. San San Age Defying Liquid Liner
- I have tried this liquid liner already before and it's pretty good naman so I chose this instead of their pen liquid liner. And the sales lady told me that this is better than the pen liner. It costs P75.00 but I got it for only P60.00.

7. San San Mascara Long Lash
- Like the liquid liner, this is not the first time that I'm trying this mascara. I remembered that the formula is a little wet and thin but when I tried it out last night, it is way better than before. This mascara retails for P125.00 but I paid for only P100.00!

8. San San Creamy Matte Lipstick in Really Red
- The only shade of lipstick that I was looking for last night at HBC was red and it's a good thing that I found this one and they still have a stock! Review soon! :) This lippie retails originally for P125.00 but I got it for only P87.50! Woohoo! :)

9. HBC Essentials False Eyelashes in NE42 and NE40
- As I was about to pay for the products that I hoarded, I saw these eyelashes next to the counter so I quickly checked out the stall. I was thinking of buying more pairs but since I was already in a hurry, I only picked up two pairs. Each costs P20.75 and no, they were not discounted. Hahaha! I used the NE42 for my makeup tutorial.

And that's it! Please never mind the San San Age Defying Trio Eyeshadow in the photo. I didn't know why I included it there. LOL! Stay tuned for my 1-brand makeup tutorial featuring HBC/San San Cosmetics!

Here's a sneak peek:

I hope you'll like it and if you do, please stay tuned for the video! :)

1-Brand Makeup Tutorial: EVER BILENA/CARELINE

I decided to do different 1-brand makeup tutorials and I wanted to start by featuring a product from our own country which is Ever Bilena/Careline. Ever Bilena is one of the most popular makeup lines here in the Philippines and Careline belongs or is partnered to Ever Bilena. I think it's just right to use, appreciate and be proud of the things which belong from your own land.

I own other local branded cosmetics such as Fanny Serrano and Fashion 21 but the products that I own from the said brands are still incomplete. I featured Ever Bilena/Careline first because I have complete makeup set (foundations, powders, concealers, blushes, lip colors, liners, etc.) from these brands.

I came up with an easy purple smokey eyes and paired it with three different lip colors so you can choose which one do you like the most and which one suits you best.

You can wear mauve lips for a simpler look:

You can wear fun pink lips if you're feeling a bit perky and bubbly:

Or you can even pair the look with a red lip color if you want to be adventurous:

Here is the video tutorial for this look/s:

PRODUCTS USED:

FACE
Ever Bilena Pro Flawless Finish Foundation in Oriental
Careline Pimple Concealer with Tea Tree Oil in Oriental and Chestnut

EYES AND BROWS
